What we collect
Your email address when you subscribe. We also record the signup page and, when available, the referring website’s domain to understand how readers find us. We do not save the referring URL’s path or query string. For a readers’ poll, we also save your vote, any optional note, your signup choice, the time of submission, entry method, referral source and country if provided by Cloudflare. We keep basic newsletter delivery records so we can stop sending to addresses that don’t work.
How it’s used
To deliver the newsletter if you opt in, manage subscriptions, and review and count poll submissions. Voting alone does not subscribe you. Poll emails and notes are visible to the editor, not displayed publicly on the ballot page. Poll results may be published in aggregate. We do not sell or rent your email address.
How signup works
The ordinary newsletter form checks email syntax and whether the domain accepts mail; this does not verify that a particular mailbox exists. Public poll entries receive a basic email format check, and the editor reviews addresses later. Newsletter signup requests go into a manual approval queue. Cloudflare Turnstile helps limit automated public submissions when configured. It may process technical signals like your IP address and browser information; see Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Policy for details.
Who processes it
The website and its subscriber and poll records run on Cloudflare. Resend (Resend, Inc.) handles approved newsletter contacts and email delivery. A personal poll link may be stored with your Resend contact so it can be included in your newsletter. It identifies your ballot without putting your email address in the URL. Anyone with that personal link can submit that ballot, so share the public voting link instead.
Unsubscribing
Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer, and most inboxes show a built-in unsubscribe button as well. Unsubscribes take effect immediately.
Deleting your data
Unsubscribing stops all mail. If you want your address and associated poll submissions deleted from our records, email us (see Contact) and it will be removed.
